Kalum Winery is owned by 5 families of wine lovers, all of us with a background in traditional agriculture.

In 2021 we joined forces with HC Amberg, in a mutual curiosity to what opportunities the current climate changes will bring for future farming and wine growing in traditional Cold Climate areas.

Our Team consists of local Møn farmers, with agricultural experience, flanked by our Team of  Wine Makers and experienced wine enthusiast assisting in the vineyards as well as in the cellars.

During peak periods, we are joined by international colleagues, with vineyeard experiences from all over Europe.

BACKGROUND & VISION

BRUT de MØN was the name of the original Vineyard, established in 2021 by Hans Christian Amberg, who originally hails from a family with a long history in Danish agriculture. He has a background as a chemichal engineer and 8 years experience as an award-winning winegrower in Burgundy, and upon return to Denmark, after 25 years abroad, he became intrigued by the potential for wine production on the island of Møn. Inspired by the island's unique chalky soils and its favorable microclimate, he saw an opportunity to craft wines that could express the distinct terroir of the region.

 With a focus on responsible farming practices and a deep respect for the environment, Amberg set out to establish a vineyard that could produce wines of exceptional quality, despite the challenges posed by Denmark's northern latitude.

BRUT DE MØN

Brut de Møn are the flagship wines originally produced by Amberg, when he first arrived on Møn. These sparkling wines epitomize his commitment to quality and innovation, and are now on sale as "Dawn Edition" BRUT de MØN, as a tribute to the beginning of the Winery. . oUR STORY...

FROM BRUT DE MØN TO KALUM WINERY

In 2021 a small group of wine lovers approached Amberg, with ambitions to expand the Møn Wine Adventure, and the first corner stoned of Kalum Winery were laid down.

Where BRUT de MØN was based on PIWI grape varieties like Souvignier Gris, Johanniter & Calardis Blanc, the new ambition was to develop wine production based on classic Champagne Grapes;

Chardonnay, Pint Noir & Pinot Meunier. With soil resembling the soil in parts of Champagne & Burgundy, it was tempting to see if the same kind of wines, still & sparkling, could be produced in the Vineyard.

The original 3,5HA of PIWI grape varieties, were in 2023 replanted with the classical Champagnes grape varieties, and the vineyard expanded during 2023 & 2024 to 16HA of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Only 1000 Souvignier Gris vines will remain as a monument of the original wine project. These are in sale as our "Dawn Edition" BRUT de MØN

The first harvest in the name of Kalum Winery is in 2025.

These wines are expected to release in 2027 – Please sign up to pre-order our Limited Edition Kalum 1st Harvest below
